Normally I’ll hit the single track from here but today was different. This time I was towing the Burley with the guys. Besides being a great place to ride, the boys loved the rustic ride versus the normal lap at the Arboretum. Nice workout too.

Hit the local trail with the Burley loaded with H + T. We did an out and back with a lap around the largest quarry. The guys enjoyed the ride, we took a break to run around on the eastern edge of the largest quarry. Here’s our ride on Garmin Connect. Another great day on the bike. Quite a few folks on the trail, especially north of Navy Pier. We plowed through and counted as many boats as we could.

There’s no better time but the present. Trail condition finally switched to yellow so I put the round side down. Good stuff and glad I made it out.

Great little meet-up spot to hit a lap at Swallow Cliff. This is a fantastic 7.5 mile loop that always keeps you on your toes. If the trail isn’t throwing in an unexpected turn then a hill suddenly shows up. Rambo Hill in the east section is great finish point that makes sure you’re worth your salt.

Another outstanding day on the water ! We had six boats with seven paddlers ranging from age 9 to 55, further showing that paddling is a life long activity for the mind and soul. A bit of a head wind ( 15-22mph ) kept things interesting on the way back. We hit the water and went up stream to the basin and then to the “creek”, we’re not sure on the name but it flows from inside Waterfall Glen. Canoecopia in Madison, Wisconsin ! Great paddle sports show that had a fantasic showing from all the canoe/kayak manufacturers both big in small. It’s pretty cool, you can sit in any of the boats to see they fit. Destinations had booths as well as gear manufacturers. Time to start planning this summers paddling !

Outstanding ride in the snow ! I had the new Pearl Izumi booties on with my new gloves from the holidays – toasty ! ! ! Not too many problems with traction, I ran a lower tire pressure at 28 pounds. I can’t wait for next season ! Now I just need to talk more folks into going out there !

Hit the Chicago River with the old crew ! Great time. Put in at Kayak Chicago and went to Lake Shore Drive and back.
