Caution on the CalSag…
Okay, I’ll start with an explanation of the blog post title.
First, I REALLY enjoy the new the CalSag Trail, especially parking at the Sag Quarries and heading east.
Second, apparently I’m not the only one enjoying the trail, which is awesome to see so many folks checking out the trail. Some are experienced, and some are learning trail etiquette. I noticed two folks talking on their mobile (not bluetooth) and riding, not really paying attention, yikes. I’m bringing this up so that you ride and error on the side of caution, this way neither party gets hurt. I know several folks that have had collisions on the Fox River Trail and it’s not fun. That said, just give those folks lots of room and cover your brakes.
Speaking of traffic on the trail, scroll through the images below. It’s amazing how tame the deer are on the trail. This was on the south end of the Tinley Creek loop, near Camp Sullivan. I didn’t stop, just slowed down not exactly sure what the deer was going to do. All went well and we went our separate ways…
On another note, it’s great to ride the trail and see how friendly everyone is. Also very helpful with directions and asking folks if they need any help if they’re on the side of the trail. It’s wonderful to see the trails connecting people and communities, now we just need more trails — and faster. 5-10 years to get a trail rolling seems ridiculously long. Fast track more trails !!
Get out there and have fun folks — if you see a guy with an orange helmet and green jersey, say hello ! 🙂
