Centennial Trail Meets Veterans Highway Trail

Keith Nowakowski cycling, family, lemont

The north extension of the
Veterans Highway Trail finally opened !

This section of trail extends from International Parkway and then heads south to the Centennial Trail. Ideally this is where the trail would head east and then south through Lemont’s Downtown. For now, that doesn’t exist, but Lemont Outdoors is going to help to change that. đŸ™‚ More on that later. For now a trail review. The “Trail Head” for the Centennial is a make shift area without any real sense of place or safety, as seen by the photo with my Burley. The trail is a gem. aside for a 1.5 mile stretch, you can ride for a 14 mile round trip without having to concern yourself with auto traffic. Besides all of the negative comments, the trail is fantastic and I really enjoy it, I just wish we could work together as a community to connect the Centennial to Lemont. Enjoy the photos and a map of the route is at the end of the post. Drop me a note if you’re interested in working together to connect the dots, I mean trails !
