Hitting the CalSag + Tinley Creek 30 Miler

Keith Nowakowski cycling, family, lemont, solo

After great, long vacation and leading our Cub Scout Pack at Day Camp, I’m back on the road. I’m also back on the road since the mountain bikes are both in the shop for repairs and maintenance. I headed over to the CalSag Trails West Parking Lot, jumped on the saddle and hit 30 miles, well technically 29.89 miles. It was fantastic weather in the mid 80’s and winds under 15 mph.

Surprisingly there were very few folks on the path, a mixture of “hard core” riders and new riders. I’m still seeing a LOT of folks trying to text or talk on the phone while riding, seriously. Also, standing in the middle of the trail talking on the phone. It’s surprising and something to keep an eye out for. There was also a Palos Park Police Officer watching the Stop signs on the bike trail near Southwest Highway along 127th. He stopped the cyclists, including myself to warn riders to stop. I talked to him and he indicated that cyclists are cutting in front of cars pulling out onto the highway, be aware.

I’m looking forward to some group rides on this route, watch the Meet-Up board. My Stava Route / Map is below the image.

Thanks and keep the round-side down !
