Starting on the Centennial in Lemont

Keith Nowakowski cycling, family, hiking, lemont, mountain biking, outdoor adventurer's, photo, solo

Getting my season started, late… Better late than never I suppose and glad that I did. I think the built up excitement fired me up to push myself harder, than or panicking about the MS150. I felt solid out there. The Centennial is still a wonderful asset to Lemont, though the trail head leaves a little to be desired. I prefer to park all the way at the east end of the Des Plaines River Road, though don’t quote me on the name as it seems to have many.

I parked and headed east on the Centennial, parking on the very east side guarantees that you won’t have to deal with not one car or intersection during 17 miles of riding. East of Route 83 the trail is still closed, but you can hop the bridge connector to the I+M and use that 9 mile loop. While it is paved, the I+M is showing its 25 year old age. There are restrooms and a water fountain right in the middle of the route.

Get out and get some miles.
