Blizzard Snow Shoe
The weather report came in, “plan on record snowfall”… The perfect reason to grab the snow shoes and head out. Luckily Lemont has great options close by so I didn’t have to drive far — we made our way over to the south ridge of Waterfall Glen. It’s one of my favorite areas because of it’s “ruggedness”, at least rugged for it’s proximately to Chicago. We parked at the base of Old Bluff Road and started heading east. We shoed to the ridge and then made our way back. The snow was deep and the going was slow.
I think my favorite part of shoeing in a blizzard is the quietness, it’s so peaceful. The wind was the only sound besides the swish, swish, swish of the shoes moving forward. Make your own trail and see you out there !
