Back on the Centennial

Keith Nowakowski cycling, family, lemont, mountain biking, outdoor adventurer's, solo

I can’t beat the convenience of the Centennial Trailhead in Lemont / Romeoville  off of 127th Street. It’s interesting to stop and realize the contrast of the location; giant Citgo Oil Refinery right next to a beautiful bike path through the Des Plaines River Watershed.

I’m finally getting my legs back and enjoying tracking my rides with Strava.com, it turns out, I’m not alone after all. I think half the cyclists I pass or get passed by are on Strava and I can see them on the Strava website Fly-By, post ride. Pretty cool stuff.

It was a good ride, lots of wildlife on the I+M section; Snapping Turtle considering a trail crossing, a woodchuck and a raccoon self grooming.

Reminder if you’re new to the I+M / Centennial ride, there’s not really any car contact on this route and there are restrooms and a water fountain in Willow Springs. 2Bici Bike Shop is also in Willow Springs if something goes wrong and you can’t fix it yourself, yes yourself. Get out + Get local, enjoy the ride !
